News Release - RDKS Congratulates Tahltan Central Government & Province on Collaboration
The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine (RDKS) congratulates the Tahltan Central Government and the Province of British Columbia for their innovation, leadership, and successful collaboration to sign a consent decision-making agreement under the BC Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act for the Red Chris Porphyry Copper-Gold Mine.
The RDKS is proud to have been involved and consulted throughout the development of the agreement, and thanks both Tahltan and Provincial government representatives for their ongoing engagement with the RDKS as the agreement was negotiated.
The RDKS was pleased to play a part in this agreement that focuses on reconciliation as it demonstrates the importance of involving local government in the development of reconciliation agreements.
