Organics Diversion for Businesses & Multi-Housing Complexes

Launching in 2026, the RDKS and the City of Terrace RDKS and City of Terrace are implementing a region-wide program to reduce organic waste in our landfills, specifically for businesses and multi-family housing.

Why organics diversion matters

Reducing future taxes: keeping organics out of the landfill extends its lifetime. This delays the extremely high cost of a new landfill.

Better environmental outcomes: when organics end up in the landfill they significantly increase greenhouse gas emissions.

Meets legal requirements: businesses are required to comply with RDKS and City of Terrace bylaws for organics diversion.
