Customers of the Thornhill and North Terrace water systems, please note that the annual water main flushing is coming up. The dates are:
Upper Thornhill: March 25 to 28
Lower Thornhill: April 2 to 12
North Terrace: April 12
Why does this happen?
Annual flushing of our water systems is important because it removes any sediment that might be in the water mains, and it helps ensure the best possible water quality is maintained. During this procedure, your water pressure may fluctuate and the water might appear coloured or cloudy. If you notice this, run your water until it clears.
Also, to help the flushing process, crews will add a small dose of chlorine to the system reservoir. There may be residual chlorine for the duration of the flushing process, but it does not affect water safety.
